everyday mask
12/17/10 - Again, poor resolution on this one made it a little fuzzy.
Not super sharp text... BUT in this case I loved it. It worked with the
theme. The whole thing had a Jello Biafra feel to it for me, and that
can't be all bad...

death mask
12/17/10 - This started as a picture of my son (no, he does not have a
Twitter account, thank you). I turned him into a zombie with blood
spewing from his mouth, framed it with a lovely tropical / floral frame,
knocked out the color with ToonPaint (that app is amazing, by the way)
and then I kicked it WAY up by creating and HDR of the image. The poem
is very close to the stuff that I would have written when I was in High
School. I gotta find some of those notebooks...

home
12/17/10 - Here's the thing. I CANNOT draw. Nor can I paint. I can do some stuff on computers, and I can figure out how to make what my friend Mr. Valerio (twitter.com/johnvalerio for those of you following at home) called "digital mud" - So this one is a big deal to me. I drew it. I feel very good about that.
Twist

12/17/10 - I'm really going to have to fix this one. It's too hard to read, and not in the right way. If you have looked over the entries on this site - you know that I don't exactly mind making it tough to read certain stuff - but only when it works with the piece. This was just an example of crappy resolution coming out of too many different apps...

what you see

I wrote this in the front of a book that I gave to my Aunt. She decided to share it with me, and I decided to post it here. Is it deep? No. It is pablum - but that's alright. Not everything has to be draped in golden cloth, and sparkling with perfect diamonds... sometimes it just doesn't work, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't worth doing.
up the water spout
My cousin sent me this. She is incredible. She can see art where others see nothing. She is as creative a force as I have ever know. I find her to be an inspiration, and I hope that I can be counted as some level of inspiration for her... Note the categories below... I asked her to tell me what she used to create it, and she mentioned spit. So there it is...
Update: 12/17/2010 -
Did I mention that my cousin uses Twitter? You can find her at twitter.com/hippomonki - Stop by, and say something nice.

Tradition
Wonderful picture from an old friend. I had put out the call for folks
to share their art, and she replied by saying that the closest thing she
had ever done to creating art was when she arranged a fruit plate to
resemble a turkey for a family Thanksgiving meal. That's art folks.
Creating is art. Being creative is art. It doesn't take a fancy site, or
an overwhelming sense of hubris (both of which I seem to have)... Just
heart.

My Nature
Simple picture taken while on vacation in Oregon, visiting family - added the words using Scribeit, and this one found life. This one is all about awe - that feeling you get when you look out at the world and you have your breath taken away. This one is about feeling connected, but knowing that that connection isn't some fanciful idea of ever-after... Just the amazing way that building blocks come together to create wonder, and eyes that can gaze upon it.

Improved
Toxins
I love to swap the cute and the not so cute back and forth. PixyMe makes
that easy... This one came together fast, and I love the carefree
attitude of the whole thing. Toxins make the world a better place, try
to prove me wrong - I dare you.

White Chocolate Wedding
This captured the idea of what I thought the site was going to be. So
many people have / use refrigerator poetry - I thought that this could
be a cool site where people could post there stuff. Hence - the post
above... I used Strip Designer to take the picture and add the text - If
I were to do it again I'm not sure I would add the easily read text. I
think the original piece stands up just fine without me mucking around
in it.
Update: 12/17/10 -
Another time where I should have mentioned a little Twitter thing... Hit her up on twitter.com/pitcherday or at her blog http://www.acertainlight.net/ - it's good stuff.
Crave Me
I started out with just popping my face onto an image that was a little
heavier than I am (well, quite a bit heavier, really...) and balding -
just for a laugh. When I saw it - I really like it... I decided to push
it through the ToonPaint app and I just LOVED it. Added the words, tried
to juxtapose the creepiness on the image with the lecherous quality of
the text... And thus - the first post on Hunting Humans was born
